My Only Parent

Today is Monday, 11 Jamadil Awal 1428, 28 May 2007

As promised in my last entry about Mother's Day, I'll tell something about 'mak' this time. Her fullname is Siti Jaliha binti Mat Yusof. Some might call her - Mak Long or Kak Chik. In fact, she's not the 1st child, the 3rd. Even my late dad was also the 3rd but unfortunately the 1st two children of my grandparents have passed away when they were still babies, thus almost everyone assumed my dad was the 1st.

Mom will turn 62 by end of this year (according to Masihi birthdate). I hope 'mak' can still be around for at least 10 years (more is good!). I hope I can still have time to 'balas budi'. My late dad died when he turned 63 in 2002. 10 days before that my 'susuan' parent passed away and not long after my dad died, another 'susuan' parent also be in their way. All of sudden everyone closed to me peacefully died one by one in the same year. At that time, don't know what else to think except I prayed that 'mak' wouldn't be in their way too.

If you look and know at her closely, you hardly know that she's old. You hardly find any white hair. Except through her skin and bones. Previously she was quite 'berisi' but now she's so skinny.

She has been staying with us for almost half a year before she decided to return to kampung. She got a letter from Tabung Haji stating that she has been chosen and confirmed to be one of the pilgrim candidates this year. Thus she should attend the classes nearest to our hometown every Sunday. I've tried to find the nearest to SU but none except I've to drive all the way to Paya Jaras or State Mosque in Shah Alam. On the 2nd thought, it's good also to let her go on her own as she also missed the house and the memories left by her husband.

I've this heavy feeling that someone will break the house. Yeahh... someone (or 2?) did that in April before we gathered as usual and another one was after that (only recently..). Unfortunately, I can't force her to stay as she also needs her own life. Luckily my 2nd and 3rd sis are around so that they can take a good care of her. God! Please make her safe there..

One thing I inherit from her is sewing skill. Although she didn't attend any formal classes but she managed to learn from looking at the clothes. Try and error. Never give up. She sewed most of my 'baju kurung' and I feel proud to wear them. She also didn't go to school in her childhood. Learnt from environment and mistakes. She also learnt to read from the newspapers! And I was so proud one day when I spoke in English, she did understand what I was trying to say...

To 'mak', though I'm not rich, I want you to feel happy when we're around you... I just want to see you smile... (sian tul dengan cite anak anto mak ke rumah orang tua bukan beragama Islam tu... to her children, tunggulah balasan Allah s.w.t. yang Maha Adil...)

LOVE U 'MAK'

Sempena Hari Ibu

Monday, 14/05/07 equal to 26 Rabiulakhir 1428

I shall put on something about my mom here but I'm still working on it... I guess I'll put it in the next entry as everyday to me is 'Mother's Day' by itself.. So, for this I just would like to paste a few songs related to the event... my fav is A Song To Mama by Boyz II Men... here they go:-

A Song To Mama (Boyz II Men)

You taught me everything
And everything you've given me
I always keep it inside
You're the driving force in my life, yeah
There isn't anything
Or anyone I can be
And it just wouldn't feel right
If I didn't have you by my side
You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were grey
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be what you have been to me
You'll always be you always will be the girl
In my life for all times

[Chorus: ]Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul

You're always down for me
Have always been around for me even when I was bad
You showed me right from my wrong
Yes you did

And you took up for me
When everyone was downin' me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on
There was so many times
Looking back when I was so afraid
And then you come to me
And say to me I can face anything
And no one else can do
What you have done for me
You'll always be
You will always be the girl in my life

[Chorus ]

Ketika Hilang Segala Yang Nyala
Kau Hadir Dengan Pelita Hati
Simpuhmu Melangkah Kesopanan
Tiada Bicara Dapat Dilafazkan
Pulangku Kau Sambut Dengan Senyuman
Pemergianku Didoakan Kemuliaan
Kau Sulam Kasih Sayang Ini Dengan Kemesraan
Walau Kesederhanaan Yang Mampu Kuhulurkan
Kau Tadah Penuh Keredhaan
Limpah Syukurmu Kususun Rapi
Agar Dirimu Dapat Kuhargai Sebagai Bidadari

Kau Permaisuri Hati
Kau Permata Suci
Akan Tatahkan Hatimu
Dengan Sinar Iman
Akan Kuhiasi Jiwamu
Dengan Kewajipan
Tanda Mensyukuri
Anugerah Tuhan
Serta Anak Yang Menjadi Penawar
Dirimu Anugerah Tuhan
Amanah Buat Insan Beriman
Rusuk Kiriku Dicantumkan
Agar Dapat Kita Bergandingan

Duhai Bonda

Bagai kerdipan lilin yang berkilau, bercahaya
Menggantikan mentari terangi malam nan gelita
Membakar diri pun membeikan cahaya
Membiar diri musnah terlebur
Korban segalanya penuh rela

Biar dimamah arus usia
Tidak pernah kenal derita
Bagai sungai kasih yang mengalir
Tiada penghentiannya, tak bertebing

Duhai ibunda kaulah anugerah istimewa
Berkorban jiwa raga redahi hidup nan mencabar
Berusaha dan sabar dalam mengharungi derita
Hidupmu penuh ranjau meniti kepayahan yang tiada kesudahan
Tidak sekali mengharapkan dibalasi permata
Cukup engkau rasa bahagia
Lihat anak-anakmu berjaya

Kau penawar hati duka
Walau hatimu terluka
Engkau ibu engkaulah bapa
Pabila ayah tiada

Hanya Tuhan saja yang dapat membalas jasamu
Kerana Tuhan saja yang tahu penderitaanmu
Wahai bonda

The last song is specially dedicated to my 'mak' who are now in kampung.. hopefully she'll be safe there... insyaAllah...

Dedicate to Yong

Fullname : Yong @ Norhasimah binti Ramli
Birthdate : 12 May 1963
Status : Married
Spouse Name : Anuar bin Ismail
Kids : Amira and Ahmad Aziziyamin

Yong, Abang Nua dan family

Amira

Yamin

Today is Saturday, 12 May 2007, equal to 24 Rabiulakhir 1428

Today is Yong's birthday.. I dun know the Hijriyah date but one thing for sure insyaAllah, I'll remember either one of the birthdates. She's the 1st sister in the house... born about 44 years ago in our own house in kg. She and her family live in Seberang Perai, near to UiTM and Permatang Pauh itself.

I admit that Yong and I were not really close when I was younger and that was perhaps because of our age which differ about 15 years. Just imagine that when I was 13, I've already got my 1st niece... so as me and Yong. But I'm glad that our bond has become stronger and matured a few years back especially after I got married. I believe, I've changed a lot when I'm married and it helps me a lot in our relationship... I notice many similarities between us - the fact that both shape is 'small' in compare with our remaining siblings - Kak Bib, Kak Chik and Awa (will expose them later..hehe), love vacation, can climb up trees, etc. (ermmm... what else?).

When there's a holiday or even a weekend where I've time, my fam and I will spend our time together at kg or rather at her house.. and then we'll arrange to go for a visit to Penang or at our uncle's house in Pengkalan Hulu (take about 1 hour to and fro her house. Permatang Pauh - Baling - Pengkalan Hulu). Or sometime we'll drop by at Ulu Legong hotspring. We even had visited Merbok, Lembah Bujang, Tupah and finally to Tanjong Dawai together. If we've time, we even also went for a picnic to Taiping waterfall (I can still remember vividly, that time Adam was still a 5-month baby! Luckily, he didn't act strangely when we returned).

Yong was married at her age of 27 to Abang Nua (comes from Bota Kanan) in the year 1990 just not long after our grandma died somewhere, if I'm not mistaken, in October. Later, in 1991, my 1st niece was borned and at that time I was 13 and still in form 1. The different between Amira and my youngest sister is only 5 years. Yamin came later in 1994. Somehow or rather, I still have a strong relation with Amira till now. She might has a few more kids, and we believe they were twins, but unfortunately they died and she has never talked about that and we simply don't want to touch her emotion over having more kids/babies by asking her more. Deep down inside her heart, I just know that she always wanted and put so much effort to have more kids. When she wanted to leave for Mekah to perform her Hajj a few years back, I threw her a hope that after she came back, probably she'd conceive but that's it... fate is not on her side and I feel sorry for her...

Yong is scheduled to go to Mekah again end of this month to perform her Umrah. Hope she'll be safe... wonder when is my turn.. I also want to go to Ta'if as my mom's relatives are still there. Her grandma was Ta'if originated... and died also in Mekah... From mom's story, her grandma's name is Syarifah (heritage Syarifah). Got married to her granddad who was a Banjar. Her grandma's siblings were 18. All were living in Ta'if...and I believe the 'keturunan' is still there. Our faces are merely mixed faces... there are few inherit Arabic faces.. and no wonder Adam looks like one...

Back to Yong, she is a great teacher and has passion to what she does. That has made most of her students succeeded and remember her so much. There was one time she brought her kiddos to stay at our house during hari raya. Nowadays, the age of the students must be somewhere around 30++.. When I look to the teacher nowadays, I can see so much different by the way I look into Yong's eyes... full of passion in her job... for I believe that if a teacher has a passion in what she/he does, the students will always be successful because what she/he does is coming from heart..

Maybe she doesn't know one thing... one thing for sure that I love her so much... for I have never shown my feelings for her... I just show it to Yong's kids - Amira and Yamin... Especially for Yong:-
1. Happy Birthday... hope your life is full of blessing from Allah s.w.t. I have no present for you like always... but thought.. huhu
2. Happy Mother's Day too...
3. Happy Teacher's Day too...

p/s : So lucky la.. you Yong... can celebrate so many 'days' with other people.. jealous I..

Cuti2 Malaysia

1) Yong, Abang Nua, Mira & Yamin
2) Kak Bib & Una
3) Kak Chik, Abang Man, Anis, Aap, Aina, Ana, Anisah (Alif join camping kat Teluk Batik)
4) Aku, hubby, Mastura & Adam
5) Awa & Jeff
6) Kak Ti, Abg Shidee, Amar, Dini & Izzudin (naik bas.. abang Shidee datang kemudian dengan kereta. Kak Ti ni sepupu kita orang tapi very close to mum as her parents divorced since she was a little kid.. even masa dalam pantang pun mak yang jaga)
7) Lain2 - Radhi
