Singapore cuts fuel prices

Petrol companies in Singapore have lowered their pump prices by four cents a litre for petrol to reflect current market conditions.
Singapore Petroleum Company Limited (SPC) announced today the pump prices for its motor gasoline across all three grades at all its service stations had been reduced by four cents per litre from 3 p.m. today.
Earlier, other petrol companies, Shell, Exxon-Mobile and Caltex started to reduce their pump prices one after another from this morning.
The new pump prices without discounts are $2.32 per litre for the 98-octane grade petrol, $2.246 per litre for the 95-octane unleaded petrol and $2.213 per litre for the 92-octane unleaded petrol.
The pump price for diesel which is currently at $2.033 per litre however is not affected by the changes.
Last Saturday, the four petrol companies had just increased their pump prices for both petrol and diesel by five cents a litre.
It was reported that the impact of a global economic slowdown on demand for oil has caused prices to fall by more than US$5 to US$136 per barrel yesterday.

And that news was almost a month ago! Today it's decreasing about 1.07% to USD120.11 (at the time I wrote around 5pm, 05/08/2008).
It's been quite sometimes I haven't written about politics or current issues in this blog. But after watching yesterday/Monday Buletin 1.30, my heart burnt again!
The TPM said that it wouldn't be any decrease in the fuel prices in Malaysia based on 3 reasons... I couldn't remember those 3 except one. That is "We'll go against the world!". Hello.. are you ZZZZ like your boss?
The fuel price is decreasing after reaching its break even! Who are now against the world? Even Singapore has decreased their fuel prices (I heard, it's already 5 times!). Mind you, their income per kapita is higher than us but still the government is caring enough to ease the burden.
Or may be it's hard to admit their mistakes and say sorry. Even to admit that what Anwar has been said in the debate, was correct. I think this government is not listening to rakyat anymore. More and more... I'm so much wondering, what will happen in future if the-PM-to-be-in-2010 doesn't know much about economics. Can he lead Malaysia to be a better place to live (with a good economics growth of course)? Selamat, aman & makmur? Erkkk....!!
And who else can lead with a good rapport internationally? Be it, with the West or East. Be it, with Muslim or non-Muslim... Except our current TPM, tell me who else meets the criteria to be welcomed from all over the world?

Just here to say hello from Norway. We pump oild from the North Sea like crazy, and we pay almost 3 USD per litre (that's 11-12 USD per gallon) for gasoline and diesel alike over here. Most of which goes to the government in the form of "environmental tax" Oh, yes, I can feel the air getting clearer every time I squeeze my wallet dry to fill the tank...

here we pay about Ringgit Malaysia 2.70/l (of course if you convert it to USD it'll be smaller but our income per kapita is low! an executive in my previous company can earn only RM1,500-RM2,500).
we've an O&G company named Petronas. in the name of dividends, they paid to the government about RM6 billions this year! but we as the citizens (i wrote it as 'rakyat') 'feel' there's no benefit to ease our pockets.
previously the government promised us to pump the money about RM4.3 billions to the public transports when the prices were increased in 2006. but until now, we haven't got the benefits!
at least, you feel the air is 'clear', here the air is always hazy.. :D. malaysia in gloomy days!
